Kentucky Adoption Reunion Registry

Many years ago  I started my search down the long path to the  unknown.   I was scared, frightened and afraid of rejection.  But I knew that I had to have the answers to make my life complete.

I met my birth family and everything was wonderful. There were very few people to share the experience with that really understood what had happened and could understand the feeling or questions. .

After meeting with my birth family, I decided I would like to view my adoption records.   So off on another journey I went.  After talking to a judge in the small county where the adoption occurred.  I was advised that if I wanted to view my records or see my original birth certificate to get the law changed

I came back home and started working on trying to put the first support group together in Kentucky and with a little help it was created.  This was before the computer age of Internet and for adoptees and birth parents to come together and share feelings was wonderful.

Next step was to work on the law.  We drafted the mutual consent bill and tried to get it thru legislation and on the third time it passed in 1985.

In 1997 we were able to get another bill passed for certain  medical information from the birth family to be passed to the adoptee.

The registry is something that I started  because the state did not provide one and the adoption groups felt the need to central all the information from the Kentucky groups.

In the course of adoption work in Kentucky with the registry and  personal searches we have completed approximately 2,000 reunions.

Putting back families - one reunion at a time.

Thanks to everyone thru the years that has helped in getting these bills passed and for their dedicated  and determined efforts for Kentucky Adoptions

We can deal with an answer easier than we can deal with the unknown.

Good Luck to everyone in your search

In Memory of Cricket and Damit (Mother and Son)  Cricket was our first Yorkie and was a wonderful little lady.  We had her in our life for 14 years.  She battled diabetes for two years prior to her death.    Damit was from her first litter and he was the tiny one.  He learned his name very easily and he and Cricket were best friends.  He weighed just  3 lbs.  He went to the Rainbow Bridge at age 13 from a stoke.  They are truly missed.

Miss Dixie had a short life but a full one and gave a lot of love   We lost her at age 4 from Protein-losing Entherapthy and Kidney failure - which we found could  be genetic.   I enjoyed showing her in the ring as a puppy and young lady. She was quite a hunter.  (Yorkies were originally  breed to track rodents) She caught  8 possums, 2 mice, a turtle, a bat and too many rabbits to count and loved to chase the birds out of the yard. We miss you Miss Dixie.

Meet Miss Gracie -at 7 months old.  She was bred  by www.blumoon.org.   Her pedigree is spotless.    She came to live with us at 6 months old and weighed 2 lbs and 4 oz.  She has turned to be a very loving young lady.  Is learning her special little tricks and is fun to work with and a fast learner.

Miss Gracie 1 year - 3 1/4 lbs. Her job is just to play and enjoy life.  We are currently working on hand signals with her and she is doing great.   She is too small to put  in the show ring but is a gorgeous little girl  She rules the house. and loves to be held.
